Day Program
The Day Program begins each day with a peer group meeting. Each member is given the opportunity to talk about the previous night’s activities, their plans for the day, concerns, ideas, complaints, etc. After the meeting, members have a wide range of activities to choose from such as working on the computer, ASL vocabulary, writing, math, reading, exercising, etc. Corliss also has weekly planned events such as bowling, YMCA, trips to the local Audubon Society, Zoo, etc.
Some members have daily jobs at Corliss while others have jobs that are off site and supported by a job coach. Members are supported by staff when attending medical appointments, Housing appointments, Social Security, Food Stamps and family visits, as typical examples. Members deliver Meals on Wheels, participate in the Recycling Project and participate in community food drives, beach clean ups and other enhancement activities as often as once weekly.
To provide further consistency and an opportunity to share accomplishments and sometimes disappointments, the program ends began with a peer group sharing.
